I admit that I am a bit of a university campus geek. I have spent almost my entire life living, learning and working in a university environment. And serving in the campus architect role, I have an elevated sense of stewardship. It has been a great pleasure to visit and speak with those who are serving this role of stewardship, discovering how they face their challenging role.
Stanford University fields an effective campus stewardship team including Dave Lenox, Niraj Dangoria, Zach Pozner. I caught up with Niraj and Zach this month to discuss their practices and challenges. Their world is one of balancing institutional history and vision with dynamics of the immediate goals of clinical and research programs. Of all the institutions that I have visited, this team addresses some of the most extreme demands with the highest collective level of stewardship of a truly world-class institution.
